New storyboard

Here I had to change the storyboard as our original idea got changed due to realising faults within our ideas ie, realising we wouldnt be able to find the right location, we couldnt find appropriate actors in time, and the props we would of needed, realisticly wouldnt be possible to use. Therefore we had to come up with a new idea and change the storyboard to fit our new critiria, by using different characters, different locations. By doing this it made our idea a lot more stronger and come together easier than before.

First draft storyboard

Account of locations requirements

The locations we require for our sequence are a bedroom and a corridor. We chose to use the studio as the bedroom as we could build it just as we want it. For the corridor we thought we would use one in a bording house. We needed the corridor to look like it was part of a clinic, so the enviroment had to be very hospital like.

Account of casting decision

When are group discussed who we were going to use for our actors we looked at some people that our teacher recomemded and chose out of them. We needed a man who looked about 35-45 and a woman who looked fairly mature.

Cast list

All of these props were used to show in the camera shots, makings of the bomb, and to make everything look a lot more realistic, by doing all of this, the quality of the shot would be a lot stronger. Ie, using wires was usefull because it shows the makings of the bomb itself, using the clippers as a close up on the camera is usefull because it creates more tension towards the actor who is making the bomb. Simple things like clothing, we wanted our actor to not look like a stereotypical terrorist, therefore we decided to dress him in simple clothing.

Target audience

The target audience we have chosen is 15 and above. The social class is middle class we chose this because it has a complicated story line. It is mainly aimed at the male gender because it is rather graphic and the male sterotype likes a graphic movie.

Logo

We have now come up with a name and logo for out thriller, we created this by the use of photoshop, however before coming up with the name we had to research a varies of names for the title, by doing this we then came up with 'Dark puddle productions'.

Floor Plan

This is the floor plan too our set in the studio, aswell as our logo towards the thriller.
This is the room of which we will be shooting in, prior to shooting we felt it was a good idea to arrange the way the room would be set out and how things were going to look
By doing this we then were able to prepare a floor plan to assist us on aciding upon different camera positions & where things would be shot, and we were then able to plan our location set properly.

Treatment & storyboarding

Treatment & storyboaring

For our sequence we decided to go on the idea of a mental illness. We chose OCD as we thought that it brought an interesting view on a thriller. There are two people in our sequence. One of them is a man in his room in a clinic who suffers from the mental illness OCD. The other character is a Nurse who works at the clinic who occasionally treats the patient. The whole sequence takes place in the clinic. The general idea is that the patient at the clinic is trying to kill himself in a very OCD like manor. For example he is very precise with the electrocution kit he is using to kill himself. The man will measure out wires and cut them to perfection. While this is happening the nurse will be walking down the corridor. The tension is created by the suspense of weather the nurse will save the patient or not. We would do this by building a set in the TV studio of the mans room and filming a corridor which the Nurse will walk down.

Are location for the man’s bedroom will be a set in the TV studio, and we will use one of the corridors in a house for the Nurse to walk down.

Our sequence generates tension by the man setting up his death and seeing if the Nurse will save him in time.
